Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for details.
An important political figure stated the incident left him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
